Elvis American Shorthair Senior Male for sale in Melbourne, Florida

Elvis's story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.
At 14, Elvis isn't a young kiddo but he still has a lot of love left to give. He has some workable health issues but his owners are unable to provide care the care he needs, and so Elvis needs a new forever home.

Elvis is a sweet boy with a gentle disposition. He's a talkative boy who loves a good cuddle and ear scratches and he likes to bap at your hands when you play with him. He'll give you a love nip when he's feeling feisty, too! He is declawed in the front.

Elvis has been diagnosed with and is being treated for hyperthyroidism; This is a disorder that affects most cats as they age, and with twice-daily oral medication he's been doing well. Elvis is also diabetic; this is a new diagnosis and he is being a good good sweet boy while his veterinary team work on getting him regulated on insulin and a diabetic friendly diet.

Elvis will need to have insulin shots and his methimazole for the rest of his life. He seems pretty chill about the whole thing, though, and as long as he has a cuddle or a lap to sit in, he's pretty okay with whatever needs to be done. These are not HUGE investments by themselves, but there will be some ongoing cost for his care, the scope of which is difficult to define due to the variability of diabetes. Potential adopters need to understand that he will need periodic blood work to help monitor his health, and in a perfect world he should stay on a diabetic support diet as much as possible.

Elvis is in his early teens, so giving him a forever home won't be a long-term investment, but the years he has to give will be full of love for the right person or family.
