Iris Domestic Shorthair Adult Female in Melbourne, Florida

My story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Iris was found at a feral colony, she came running up to the feeder and it was obvious she is new and tame. She is OK being held and there was a microchip but the previous owner never returned our calls. People who dump indoor cats on the street ... well, those kitties are freaked out by the outdoors, so it's not easy to catch them most of the time. This gal was confident enough to approach a strange human on the street. Lucky for her, she approached the right one!Her microchip showed she was adopted from SPCA as a kitten. Due to SPCA being full from the panhandle rescues, they could not take her back immediately.UPDATE: we have agreed to transfer her to PAWS because now it is obvious she was tossed from a car into the woods, or mistreated, and needs a chiropractic treatment, which SPCA refuses to do. She had her first treatment on Nov 12. We are monitoring to see if she needs a 2nd treatment. (she didn't)Meanwhile Iris showed signs of a urinary infection so we took her to the vet. To rule out everything we did a Urinalysis (negative) and an xray to check for stones. The only finding was a pellet lodged in her right hind thigh muscle. The vet determined urination was stress-related. So we keep her on a urinary food because it is formulated to relax a stressed out bladder and kitty, and this helps her cope .. she needs a home as the only kitty. Then she won't need the special food anymore.Iris is outgoing, fine with dogs, kids... all except cats, she wants her own kitty-space!  She loves attention and would do best in a home as the 'queen kitty'!! Due to these vet costs, her foster mom has started a fundraiser:  /iris-chiropractic-urinalysisIf you are interested in adopting, please go to and click on the Adoption Policy menu, from there you will find the online application link. Contact Mona at meowmail1@gmail.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
